Frequently Asked Questions
ISSUE
Floating Charts will not run. You may see the icon appear, then quickly disappear from the system tray. Or the program may be stuck in stopped mode.
CAUSE
- The software did not install or update properly. If this is the cause, the software is usually running, but in Stopped mode. To check, see if you can find the Floating Charts icon in the system tray. If found, rollover the icon with your mouse. If the text the appears ends with "(stopped)" and right clicking the icon and selecting "Start" does not change the mode, then you are most likely missing files required to run properly.
- Your antivirus or other security software is blocking the program. The following is a list of programs that have been reported to block Floating Charts:
- Constant Guard
RESOLUTION
If re-installing the software doesn't resolve the issue, you need to make sure that Floating Charts is added to your security software's safe list. This is further complicated by security packages like Constant Guard from Comcast or Xfinity or whatever they call themselves now. This is because Floating Charts may be on Norton's safe list, but blocked by Constant Guard. However, significant changes have been made to their security package since the report and the problem with Constant Guard may be resolved.
OTHER NOTES
It is important to note that being stuck in stopped mode does not automatically rule out the possibility of a security program blocking Floating Charts. Since the resolution may not be easy or obvious for some, we are happy to assist you in diagnosing and resolving the issue. We can even securely connect to your computer to diagnose and resolve the issue.
